The Assistive Device Program (ADP) is an Ontario wide program that will cover $195 per breast form (prosthesis) if you have had breast cancer every 2 years.

If you need a new prosthetic and it has been over 2 years (June 2021) you are eligible for a new one.
Remember if you have private insurance, they will usually cover the balance of that purchase.

Here is an example: a breast prosthetic is $425. Tax exempt.

ADP covers $195 of the cost. The balance for your insurance company to cover would be $230.
If you don’t have private insurance, you would be able to use this portion on your income tax.

Prosthetics do not always have to be replaced every 2 years. They can last 2, 3 or sometimes 4 years if looked after properly.
After this they do start to deteriorate, and the silicone inside does break down. They can then puncture more easily, loose their shape; sometimes they may even appear smaller. Some people like to get another and use the old one as a second for going away on vacation, or if the size of the breast form needs an adjustment from wear or weight gain or loss. There are newer lighter weight breast forms that are nice to try too.

At BodyMed we will print and fill in the forms for you on the spot and send via email or fax to the ADP program. Usually within 6 weeks you will receive a cheque in the mail with your refund.
